  • Sure. That "sort" of thing happens all the time. Back in the 1800s in the U.S., before government regulations of the stock market, the "rail barons" used to buy and "loot" companies all the time. That is: they would buy out a rail company, con investors into buying stock into the company, appropriate everything of value in the company (i.e. selling it at a very cheap price to one of their OTHER companies), and then sell their stock in the company...making a huge profit at the investor's and company's expense.
