He could be ESL. Better to help him out than criticize. I think it's "capacitor" and "definition" FYI.

@ Suzy-Q You're right he is second language, and most likely lives in the middle east somewhere. Now why would I help him understand something that can be used in the making of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) ? FYI If I'm wrong and he is a young student learning electronics - then he should be looking in his textbooks and asking his teacher.
  • It's a component that can flux you up.

      I hate it when that happens ! ; )
  • I think there are capacitors for different purposes. I recently had air conditioning trouble and the problem was the capacitor; it had to be replaced. Use a search engine for an indepth discussion. 12/4
  • A device that stores a small amount of electricity in a static field between two plates.
  • Wiki says; "A capacitor is a device that stores electrical energy by accumulating electric charges on two metal plates separated by a dielectric material. When connected to a power source, one plate gets a negative charge and the other gets a positive charge. A capacitor can release this energy into the circuit later on. A capacitor does not dissipate energy, unlike a resistor. Capacitors were originally called condensers. " 1/28/25 wikipedia.org+3
